Hi,lets give it the ole try. One of the most common questions from users here at LQ goes something like this: If the version of the driver you are using in the repository is broavcom older version than that available from Broadcom, then contacting them would not apply.
On one of my computers, simply installing wicd was enough to wake up the Broadcom chip, but I can't remember what chipset it was using and can't access it right broacdom. I figured let's take it off and see what happens.

Broadcom 43xx wireless devices
This is the first time I have seen the wireless icon but unfortunately it is disabled and no clicking or rebooting will get it enabled. The bfwcutter package will need to be installed. The necessary kernel module is automatically loaded for supported devices.
